Microsoft Wants Your Apps
Microsoft is inviting apps developers to come aboard. What they want is a host of new apps for their Windows Phone to make it able to pose stiff challenge to competitors like Google Android and Apple iPhone. Apple is still miles ahead than Microsoft as far as handheld devices go, be it tablets or iPhones. Google, too, is forging ahead with Android. So why would the developers choose Microsoft?
What Microsoft is saying that Microsoft wants your apps and they plan to create a comprehensive environment where the apps will be fully integrated to and released across all Microsoft platforms-- Windows tablets, Windows Phone, Xbox One and, not to mention, the PC.
This is an encouraging sign for all game lovers and especially, the patrons of Xbox games. For example, comprehensive integration to all platforms will mean that game lovers will be able to play their favorite games across all their Microsoft devices and would not have to switch between devices to play this or that game. For example, the game Halo Spartan Ops was designed for Windows Phone and Windows 8 tablets. So, it still cannot be played in Xbox One. The game can be played on a Windows 8 PC, but controlling with keyboard and mouse becomes difficult.
Now, if Microsoft can really deliver on their promise, the Spartan Ops should soon be available on Xbox One platform as well. The gamers can keep their fingers crossed. In the meantime, Microsoft had been promising something else, too, for some time now. Which is storing all data from all different platform devices into the cloud. This again would be a great development for game enthusiasts. Since this will mean that they can save their game on one device and can then access the saved data anytime from a different Microsoft device.
However, all this is still in the zone of speculation now. Meanwhile, Apple has already introduced their new iOS 7 for the iDevices and has also launched the new iPhone 5S. SO, if Microsoft wants to make an impact, they should better do it fast.
